"Nana Can Do It"
This blog got it's name from my grandchildren's idea that Nana can do anything. Isn't it sweet when they still believe we can work miracles?
There are many things around my home that need repair or down-right rebuilding & with little money, hiring a handyman is out of the question. This means it falls on me to do it all with the help of my daughters, sometimes their husbands & always those sweet little helpers...Nana's little chicks.
I will venture into the unknown here at home & share it on this blog for those trying to do the same thing in hopes you can learn from my mistakes :) Contrary to what the little ones think, Nana really can't do it all but she sure will give it a go!

Thoughts on the process
I've been unable to get back into town, (going into town is like taking a mini road trip), so I've been drawing out how I want the kitchen to look once it's finished. This is probably all wasted time as I will be doing it 'on the cheap'. Think 'dumpster diving' cheap. ;) I will have to adjust my plan a step at a time.
I was telling my sister who lives way up and over there in the mid-west what happened to the cabinet base and floor coverings and she offered me some oak cabinet bases that she has stored in a shed down here at our parents place. Can you say, Best-est sister on earth?! I've not yet braved the spiders & whatever other scary bugs might be lying in wait for me in that shed. I will go over and look sometime today but then I'll have to wait for some help to get them out of there...have I mentioned yet that I am not very patient? Oh well, this project just may teach me some patience.
With the cost of the cabinet base out of the equation, I might be able to get that lovely black counter top that I liked at the Surplus Salvage store. That would be great.
