"Nana Can Do It"

This blog got it's name from my grandchildren's idea that Nana can do anything. Isn't it sweet when they still believe we can work miracles?

There are many things around my home that need repair or down-right rebuilding & with little money, hiring a handyman is out of the question. This means it falls on me to do it all with the help of my daughters, sometimes their husbands & always those sweet little helpers...Nana's little chicks.

I will venture into the unknown here at home & share it on this blog for those trying to do the same thing in hopes you can learn from my mistakes :) Contrary to what the little ones think, Nana really can't do it all but she sure will give it a go!

Why the kitchen?

Here's why...you can see from the photos below that I had a leak. It wasn't a trickle, it was more like a mini waterfall! I didn't notice it for at least 1 day (maybe a couple?). By the time I realized what was happening, the water had worked it's way out into the kitchen & living room. It was under the carpet and the new tile I just put down was ruined because it had to come up in order that the plywood underneath could dry.
Being a mobile home, the cabinets are made out of what appears to be pressed sawdust/cardboard. Whatever it is, it got soaking wet and is falling apart. You can see it in one of the pics near the stove.
So, replace it all, yeppers!
The young lady working so hard in the photos is my oldest daughter, Jessica.
*A note about my girls~I have the three best daughters around. Kind, compassionate, caring, loving & always looking out for their Mama :)

This shows the bottom of the cabinet where the water has ruined it. It also shows where Jessica got a little wild with the screw driver. That glue was nearly impossible to get up.

Here is Jessi pulling the carpet and padding up. What a job that was.

This shows how wet the plywood was under the tile in the kitchen.
